The advantages and properties of silicone
Thanks to its material properties, silicone is suitable for many applications in a wide variety of industries.
The benefits of silicone compared to other elastomers mean that its range of applications is continually expanding.
The benefits become clear when describing individual properties:

Thermal properties
- Heat resistant to 200°C using standard material, and up to 300°C using heat stabilizing material, in dry heat
Low-temperature flexibility
- Very good low-temperature flexibility to minus 60° C as standard and minus 100°C using special material
Physiological properties
- Tasteless and odourless
- Can be sterilized
- No plasticizers
- Can be used in food and drinking-water applications
Resistant to weathering and ageing
- Very good resistance to ozone and UV light
- Resistant to moisture
- very good resistance to ageing
Burning behaviour
- No separation of toxic combustion products
- Compounds with low flammability available
- Suitable for applications with high fire-proofing requirements
Electrical properties
- Very good insulating effects, non-conductive
- The electrical properties are almost resistant to temperature and moisture
Chemical resistance
- Can be steam sterilized to 130°C
- Resistant to weak acids and alkalis
Mechanical properties
- Very good resilience and in the high range are superior to other elastomers
Colours
- Standard transparent
- Any other colour in the RAL table, and special customer colours are possible
